What! No Trivia Channel?

Hello Biggies and Loyal Players of the Big Trivia Show!

I have been an XM radio subscriber for well over a year now and I love it! 150ish channels of everything you could want short of a picture (of course). Anything from music, news, sports, talk, comedy, religion, even Disney! Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and AC/DC have channels with nothing but their music. Oprah has a show. So does Tom Petty. Even the great Bob Dylan (though I’ll be damned if I can understand a word he’s saying). Seemingly everything except……you guessed it….TRIVIA! There are no trivia channels anywhere on XM or Sirius.

Now, I know there is a market for it. After all, every local radio show has a trivia segment whether its sports, music, or politics. After all, it’s only been a year since myself and Curtis Earth hosted a daily trivia radio show right here in Orlando. The show was great, the concept was great, the radio station…..not so great although I am not blaming the folks at 1190 WAMT. I am blaming the antenna and lack of marketing. Despite these failings, we were really beginning to build quite an audience and all seemed to be going well. That is, until the economy started diving and our advertisers got scared. As you know, no advertising equals no show.

The one thing we never did was send a tape to XM. I really wish we had. We had a great show and XM still does not have a trivia show. Heck, they don’t even have a Game Show Network. I may be alone here, but I really think a trivia channel would be hours of fun and educational listening for everyone! Prize giveaways including trips for 2 to beautiful Paris, France or how about…A NEW CAR!!!!! Ok, I’m not Bob Barker! Heck, I’m not even Drew Carrey but I do know I good idea when I hear one.
Yes, the mystery of why there are no trivia channels on XM still baffles me! After all, they even have a Catholic Channel. I am a Catholic, and it’s the last channel I would listen to. I bet they could use a trivia segment. I could see it now….”Hey Father, Chuckles, let’s give away a trip for 4 to the Vatican for the first person that can identify this hymn”…..play it Sister Ann”. Now that’s entertainment!

Now its time for our BTS Team of the Week. This week’s team plays most of their trivia at Gators Dockside although they have been known to stray to a Smokey Bones from time to time. They brought their A Game and plowed through the competition in both Gators Dockside games. Now, it may have helped that there was no Magic game that night to distract them, but that is just a theory. It is with great pleasure that I announce this week’s BTS team of the week..
