MEMORIAL DAY
Hello Biggies and Loyal Players of the Big Trivia Show.
I hope your Memorial Day was full of all the ingredients necessary for a successful holiday.... Beer, BBQ, and of course, some time for reflection and remembrance.
I think we all have known or are related to someone who has fought in one these wars: World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and the Wars in Iraq and Afganistan. But did you know…..
Memorial Day originally honored those who had died in the Civil War and in The Spanish-American War?
Also, Memorial Day was declared a federal holiday in 1971. This is a day to remember loved ones who have passed on, as well as remembering our service men and women.
Flowers and flags are placed on graves in remembrance of them. Parades and dedications of memorials usually are part of the day's activities. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local marching bands, members of the armed service, fire departments, police departments, and fraternal orders often march in parades and attend ceremonies to commemorate the day.
Waterloo, N.Y. is considered the birthplace of this holiday because the people of Waterloo were the first people to proclaim a day on May 5, 1866 to honor the soldiers who died in the Civil War. They closed their businesses and placed flowers and flags on the graves of their soldiers. Flags were flown at half-mast.
And finally, the Southern States of Alabama and Mississippi observe the last Monday in April as Confederate Memorial Day. Georgia observes April 26th, North and South Carolina observe May 10th, Virginia observes the last day of May. Louisiana and Tennessee observe June 3 and Texas celebrates Confederate Heroes Day, January 19th.

This week’s winners come to us courtesy of our show at Gators Dockside. As has been the case before, you don’t necessarily have to win every single game of trivia to be considered as Team of the Week. I like to reward those teams that come back week after week and really stand out thus becoming a staple at that venues show. That is exactly what our winners have done.
They often consist of 4 members. They sometimes have 6 members. But in addition, they always have their “Half” members. I’ve seen one team member baby, and I’ve seen as many as three toddler team members! You have to reward a team that is grooming future BTS’ers?
These guys have been at every show since the start of 09’ and they have really gone toe to toe with the big boys at Gators. That plus running a daycare at the same time? I’ve gotta give my props for that!

WE WILL CO-EXIST!
Hello Biggies and Loyal Players of the Big Trivia Show.
I’m not sure who is and who isn’t a fan of the NBA but even more than that, who isn’t a fan of a great story. The Orlando Magic are truly a great story and they are truly having a storybook season which only got more compelling with their Game 7 victory of the Celtics in Boston. How’d that taste chowder heads?
Anyway, even if the management of some of our establishments don’t realize it, I realize that not all of you give two craps about the Magic. You come to play trivia and I love you for it. All I can say is this, we will learn to co-exist with the hardcore Magic fans that view us and anything not Magic related as a nuisance.
Whether we go into another part of the restaurant or do it without music, we will find a way to get it done. Ask Tampa Bay Ray fans. We worked with them and we will work with this as well. So please hang in there and Go Magic, beat The Cleveland LeBrons, and let the rest of us play our game!
Now, As you know, the BTS always strives to add new venues in an effort to spread the proverbial trivia love around the great city of Orlando. Plus, a brother’s gotta work ya know? Those Polly Pockets for my daughter don’t pay for themselves.

I know it’s late, but it’s not THAT late. I really hope all the BTS moms were well taken care of on Sunday. As for me, I treated Mrs. Steadman to a night at the Portofino Hotel and dinner at Jimmy Buffets at Universal Orlando and then I really gave her what she wanted…a chance to take a long nap and take a break from me and my daughter . Elizabeth Ann Buttle is the mother who holds the record for the longest interval between the birth of two children. She gave birth to Belinda on May 19,1956 and Joseph on November 20, 1997. The babies were born 41 years 185 days apart. The mother was 60 years old when her son Joseph was born.

For the record, I bought my mother Tulips on Friday and they were dead by Sunday. Stupid 1-800-Flowers!!! (Actually, they are replacing them for free so they’re actually pretty cool).

This week’s winners hail from the Gators Dockside Show in lake Mary, which was a madhouse last Wednesday as I felt that I was competing with the Orlando Magic almost as much as the Celtics did. We got through it and so did our Team of the Week. Well, that is what Hall of Famer’s do right? They did well on the BTS Picture Quiz and that helped them capture game one. They ran away and hid with a BTS high 74 points and took game 2 as well. The Magic may have lost, but not these guys (and girls). Plus, they brought two new members to the fun! That’s always a good thing!

I know it’s late, but it’s not THAT late. I really hope all the BTS moms were well taken care of on Sunday. As for me, I treated Mrs. Steadman to a night at the Portofino Hotel and dinner at Jimmy Buffets at Universal Orlando and then I really gave her what she wanted…a chance to take a long nap and take a break from me and my daughter . Ahhhh paradise! Am I a great husband or what?

Of all of the shows we do, I think its safe to say its our most liberal and loose. Because it doesn’t began until 9pm, the adult only crowd has a great time and with $5 pitchers and $1.50 pints, the show has a tendency to get a little wild. Heck, the team names alone are enough to give you an indication of what kind of show we have at Coasters.
Well, these teams party hard and play hard as well. This team scored an impressive victory and their name was one of the raunchiest. Poor Kevin.
